Book Launch: Joiner Bay & Other Stories (Melbourne)

July 14, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEST

Join us at the Melbourne launch of our short story anthology, Joiner Bay & Other Stories.

Selected out of over 200 entries from the 2017 Margaret River Short Story Competition, Joiner Bay & Other Stories features seventeen beautifully written and distinct short stories from across Australia.

This year’s winner, Laura Elvery has had work published in The Big Issue Fiction Edition, Kill Your Darlings, Award-Winning Australian Writing and Griffith Review. Her story, “Joiner Bay”, tells the tale of a schoolboy who runs to make sense of his best friend’s suicide.

Second prize winner Else Fitzgerald’s work has appeared in Visible Ink, Australian Book Review, Award Winning Australian Writing and Offset. Her story “Sheen” leaves the reader questioning what it is that makes up humanity.

The South West Prize winner Leslie Thiele has had her short fiction commended and shortlisted in various competitions. Her story “Harbour Lights” details the emotional turmoil created by a painful confrontation.

To be launched by Lian Low. Lian is a writer, editor and spoken word artist. She is currently writer-at-large for Asian-Australian arts culture magazine Peril, previously editor-in-chief and prose editor.
