JUE YANG: POLVAREDA

sweep
the noon’s heat

fill
flatten
gather

carry
cut
weigh

the rest is brief

sweep
the last order

hunger tastes
dry cement
smells warm
laundry

the rest is bread

sweep
the night’s return

face of abuela
faces of niñas
knead a dough
of blue maiz

the rest is dream

Jue Yang is an artist-writer. Using the lens and the text, she captures moments of empathy and lonesomeness. Her practice is informed by her past work as a playwright, designer, technologist and cartographer. In 2017, Jue completed artist residencies in Mexico, Norway and Finland, in which she found cooking as a way of research for performance and embodied emotions. Jue grew up in China, lived in the US, and is currently in search of an elusive home. To read more about her, visit http://www.lemony.space.

PHOTODUST is an independent art and photography organisation based in Melbourne, Australia. We are a not-for-profit Asia-Pacific curation project. Our aim is to engage and encourage collaboration between artists, for the production and publication of photographic and lens-based art. PHOTODUST aims to establish a unique perspective toward visual culture. For this purpose, we are constantly searching for artworks that involve the use of photography and related processes. The rules are simple: all photographic and lens-based works will be considered. Our only requirement is that the work should be produced by artists born or based in the Asia-Pacific region.www.photodust.org (copyright details available here: https://wordpress-711166-2356953.cloudwaysapps.com/about/photodust/)
