Submissions guidelines

Recently, Peril has been contacted with regards to unacknowledged references to the work of other writers in some writing featured here. Together, we have agreed to remove those works from Peril at this point in time.

In doing so, we acknowledge the complexity of discussions of authorship, intertextuality and traditions of poetry and politics that speak to, against, within and in conflict with other creative works. We hope not to pass judgement on particular writers’ work, however, in this instance as we have been unable to confirm authorship of some pieces in question, we are electing to remove that work.

Broadly speaking, Peril’s aims to be multimedia platform that empowers the creativity, agency and representation of Asian Australian people in the arts, society and culture. To support those aims, for those considering submitting work to Peril, please know that we are able to pay Australian (for tax purposes) contributors for previously unpublished, original work that aligns with our themed editions.

We would encourage those interested in Peril to consider our submission guidelines. As always, you are welcome to contact the editors prior to submission to confirm if your work is eligible.

As a collective, we hope to improve our submission guidelines to be clearer and more helpful to those wishing to contribute.
