Welcome to the Page – Peril Team Updates

periljustgotmoreawesome0apeople0a-default(1)It is with great pleasure and excitement that I welcome Amena Ziard, Prose Editor; RD Wood, Politics Editor and Anne Lau, Arts Editor to the Peril editorial team.

Together, these three people bring a diversity of viewpoints, experiences and expertise – so watch this space for what they will bring to the Peril table/page/mixed metaphor. We’re always interested in more complex representations of Asian Australians in the arts, literature, media and politics, and we hope that together we can grapple with issues of relevance to Asian Australians with depth and sensitivity. It’s a veritable corporate platitude to say that people are important, but dammit, it’s true. Peril isn’t anything except people who do the work, talk about the ideas and then make the text hit your screen, so when we get new people, that means something to us. We hope it will mean something to you too.

Amena Ziard, Prose Editor, is a Saudi-born Filipino-Sri Lankan living in Bunurong and Wurundjeri country. Currently completing studies at Monash University, she was most recently editor at Lot’s Wife. RD Wood, Politics Editor, is Malayalee Australian writer, editor and printer. With a background in trade unions, NGOs and editing and publishing, Robert also has a book of poems due for release later this year with Electio Editions. Anne Lau, Arts Editor, is a Taiwanese Australian writer based in Sydney. Passionate about the arts, especially the performing arts, Anne has a background in theatre writing and recently featured in Playwriting Australia’s Lotus: New Stories in Bloom as a part of the Sydney Writers Festival.

As with all our editors, you can get in touch via email or Facebook or Twitter and you can check out their full biographies here.

In the mean time, soak up this sweet thumbnail gallery action.
