Last November, Peril had the pleasure of participating in the West Writers – Our Stories Forum, a detailed and diverse series of events, workshops and launches with editors, writers and story makers as exciting as Omar Musa, Bec Zajac, Christos Tsiolkas, Uncle Larry Walsh and the dynamic crew from Ascension Magazine.

This year, West Writers is again issuing a call out for the West Writers’ Group, and Peril Magazine would like to heartily encourage any Peril readers to take up this opportunity if they have links to Melbourne’s west.

Are you a writer, theatre maker, poet or songwriter?
Do you live, work or spend time in Melbourne’s west?
Are you looking to develop your work, meet other creatives and gain professional development?

West Writers’ Group is a collective of writers from diverse backgrounds who currently live, work or have other established links to Melbourne’s west. It is a collective that will amplify the stories and voices of the region.

In developing the many individual stories from writers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, West Writers’ Group aims to create and profile a unique ecosystem of diverse narratives.

This unique two year program, offers aspiring writers, theatre makers, storytellers and poets the opportunity to share and create work, as well a participate in a series of professional development opportunities with mentors from Melbourne’s thriving literary community.
