Gilbert Caluya is Senior Lecturer in Gender & Sexuality Studies at Deakin University, where his teaching and research focuses on the intersections of gender, sexuality and race in everyday culture that is attentive to inequality, injustice and dis/empowerment. Specifically, he researches the politics of intimacy and race across multiple cultural sites, including sexual subcultures, digital citizenship and everyday cultures of security. He has previously been a Lecturer in Cultural Studies at the University of Melbourne, a Research Fellow at the University of South Australia and Associate Lecturer in Gender Studies at the University of Sydney.
