Alvin’s Harmonious World of Opposites
Alvin spends his days working as a Japanese translator, carefully creating the illusion of everyday normality. But then there is all that panda stuff, the good-looking girl downstairs that Alvin spies on but can't summon the courage to approach and the mysterious substance that just keeps dripping from the ceiling. When his crazed and angry neighbour goes on a crusade to rid the block of units of a suspected flea infestation and with tensions in his life and home increasing Alvin is forced into the ceiling to investigate. In order to bring back peace and harmony Alvin must face his captive emotions and accept the stains that permeate his sheltered existence. Melbourne International Film Festival 2016

Queer Vietnameseness Film Screening (Australian Premiere)
We are excited to present to you a selection of films directed by Quyên Nguyen-Le (they >she). Quyên is a queer vietnamese filmmaker from Los Angeles California and this screening will be the first release of Quyên's films in Australia. They are currently touring all of their films and their short film, Nước was selected and screened at Outfest.

Call for Submissions – Channels Festival (The Australian Video Art Festival )
Channels, The Australian Video Art Festival is dedicated to showcasing new contemporary moving image by some of the most exciting Australian and international artists. Following on from the success of our 2013 and 2015 events, Channels Festival is back for 2017 with a dynamic and inclusive festival of public engagement programs, free exhibitions, screenings and international and online programs. We’re currently seeking single-screen videos under 15 minutes for our popular Video Visions screening to be held at the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) in Melbourne. Conflicted: Works from the Vietnam Archive Project – Presented as Part of the Human Rights Arts and Film Festival
THE VIETNAM ARCHIVE PROJECT by Phuong Ngo is an ongoing artwork started in 2010. Currently consisting over 10,000 items, including slides, photos, documents and objects; this ever-growing collection explores histories that have come to define the personal and collective identities of Vietnamese communities, both within and outside of Vietnam. CONFLICTED explores the political and social aspects of war through the lens of service men and women. Utilising found images and objects from the VIETNAM ARCHIVE PROJECT, the exhibition comprises a series of intimate moments and large scale installations offering a nuanced and alternative reading of the Vietnam War. The 12th annual Sydney Latin American Film Festival (SLAFF) returns this September (07-11) to Dendy Opera Quays. The Festival will screen a specially curated program of captivating contemporary Latin American cinema: eight feature films, two documentaries, and seven shorts, along with vibrant opening and closing night parties, over five jam-packed days. From stories of human resilience, to political turmoil and redemption, the 2017 program focusses on diversity and representation, providing engaging insight into the vast cross-section of Latin American cultures. Fifty percent of this year’s program comprises of female directors, and showcases who we are as a whole continent, with representation from Central and South America, and a special Caribbean spotlight.
